What is Quebracho Blanco?
A Premium Hardwood Native to South America
While mesquite is a familiar grilling wood commonly used in the U.S. Southwest and parts of Mexico, Quebracho Blanco is a hardwood native exclusively to South America. The two trees are entirely different species with very different characteristics. Mesquite is a lighter wood with a faster burn rate and can produce more sparks, greater temperature fluctuations, and quicker consumption, which is why it is often used primarily for flavor. In contrast, Quebracho Blanco is prized for its exceptional density, strength, and long-lasting burn, delivering more consistent heat, fewer sparks, and minimal ash. For generations across Argentina and neighboring regions, Quebracho Blanco has been regarded as one of the finest woods in the world for producing premium hardwood lump charcoal—ideal for those who value performance, control, and reliability at the grill.
We take great care in how we source our Quebracho Blanco, working responsibly within the natural lifecycle of the forest. Rather than clear-cutting or harvesting healthy trees, we only source trees that are already dying or at the end of their natural life. Each tree is cut in a way that allows the forest to regenerate naturally, supporting long-term sustainability and helping the surrounding ecosystem thrive.
This responsible approach is highly approved by the Government of Argentina, recognizing a balance between production and environmental stewardship.

How We Make Our 100% Natural Hardwood Lump Charcoal
Once harvested, we personally oversee the transformation of this hardwood in Argentina using traditional, large-scale charcoal ovens. The wood is slowly carbonized under carefully controlled conditions, allowing moisture and impurities to burn off while preserving the wood’s natural structure.
We burn 100% Quebracho Blanco ourselves, producing a dense, high-quality hardwood lump charcoal that burns hotter, lasts longer, and delivers clean, reliable heat with bold, natural flavor. The result is a premium charcoal crafted for grillers and professionals who demand quality in every bag.
